• Initiate income generation activities enabling young people access to cash for schooling and investment. KCYP has taught its members how to create solar panels – a much needed affordable form of power within the slum. When sold, these provide a moderate income for both individuals and the organization as a whole. Similarly, the theatre group is able to earn money through bookings

• To offer through project activities a functional model of self-help approaches to community based integrated resource management

• Sports development. The KCYP football team trains and nurtures young talent. Participation carries a strong form of tranformation.

• Offering recreational opportunities. Swimming excursions, the theatre group or football team provide an alternative to idleness or anti-social recreational activities such as drug abuse and petty crime
